Hi, Wednesday the 11th of July I had planned to go mudding at my favorite local mud spot in the forest. The day appeared cool and without sun, so I even doubted if it would be a good idea to go ahead, since I had planned to get very wet and dirty.

But I decided it was a go after all, went down and packed the rucksack with, a pair of old green rubber boots with laces at the top, a orange pair of Ocean bib and brace rain pants, a green HH rain jacket with button closure, a pair of yellow Ocean rain pants, a yellow Ocean smock rain jacket with neoprene cuffs in the arms, a pair of green Ocean chest waders (or at least that was what i thought). I decided to wear, a pair of blue April rain pants in bib and brace style with button closure on the shoulders, these worn on the naked body, on top a woolen sweater for warmth. I wore yet another pair of bib and brace rain pants, this time a pair of yellow HH Nusfjord, rain pants got tucked inside a pair of extra tall black Gates thigh waders, secured with straps to the belt. Then I packed the rucksack, my bicycle, and a normal button style yellow Ocean rain jacket, into the car and drove offto the forest.

When I arrived I wore the yellow Ocean rain jacket open as I rode the bicycle down to the place of my favorite muding spot. When I arrived at the mud place I undressed the woolen sweater and wore the yellow Ocean smock rain jacket with the neoprene cuffs to create a good water tight seal. Then I wore a pair of old well used woolen socks, and put my feet in the green rubber boots.

One sad discovery was, that was I had expected to be my Green Ocean chest waders, were in fact my green Ocean D865 mud suit, which I had no plans of getting muddy on the inside. A bit sad, as my plan had been to get muddy in rubber boots, then do the same in the thigh waders and finally finish with exactly the same in the chest waders.

Now it was time to get dirty and muddy, I stepped in to the mud hole measuring 5 by 3 meters, and after just a few steps I had sunk into the knee, and could slowly feel the cold muddy water enter the boots. More stomping around in the mud followed before kneeling down and getting the pants and jacket dirty. Now it was time to get into the waders, so I stepped out of the mud hole and pulled the completely soaked boots off. I wore the yellow Ocean rain pants and pushed my messy pants and socks into the still clean waders.

Back in the mud hole I now had to find a even deeper spot to see if it was possible to flood the waders with the soft black forest mud. After stomping around a bit I succeeded as I sank all the way to the crotch, and again feeling the great sensation of the boots filling with soft and cold mud. Time to get more dirty, so I found the orange Ocean bib and brace rain pants, these had to be worn in the mud hole. So that's easier said than done, while sitting in a boggy mud hole. First the waders came off, then the bib rain pants was worn and waders back on, while the socks now where two huge blocks of mud that were pressed into the tall black rubber waders.

Like that I had a lot of fun in the mud hole, just a bit sad that I never got to wear my Ocean chest waders nor the green HH rain jacket. That has to e next time......... then I spent an hours time cleaning up all the messy rain gear in a small stream before heading back to the car. What a fantastic way to spend a day off.................
