New rainwear (Guy Cotten)
New rainwear (Guy Cotten)

Hi,

Yesterday a new addition to my rainwear collection arrived, this time it was new gear and not old things bought on e-bay.

I had bought some Guy Cotten raingear from an French online outdoor clothing retailer, what I ordered were:

Yellow rain bibs

Yellow smock

Yellow rain jacket

Blue and red hooded fleece sweater

Quality of the gear is excellent, many great details like a fly in the rain  bibs that closes with velcro, that will for sure come in handy. Another nice detail is a cut slit, that makes access to pockets in under garment possible, and these slits are staggered so they still look very waterproof indeed. The rain jacket have, what they call magic hood, that turns with the head movement. I have not tried that one out yet, so I can't say how well this works. Gear is PVC both sides but in a nice a thick quality, the bibs also have double layer PVC on the knees for better durability. The well known chest pocket on Guy Cotten gear is not really my thing, but OK one have to make some compromises

The two fleece sweaters have PVC arms and front up to the bottom of the chest, all other parts are nice and warm fleece. The fleece is no so soft and a bit plastic like, but I guess more durable in the long run. The hood is not too large and seem to have a good fit for a windy day. The arms have velcro flaps to close of the arms if needed.

I ordered all items in this batch as a size large and I must say for my slim tall body 186cm tall, it's a really good fit. Because for me there nothing worse than really loose rainwear, I like it body fitting and still comfortable, without being skin tight :-)

So I can only recommend Guy Cotten gear to all here, this from a guy who until now only have bought Ocean, Helly-Hansen, Viking and Elka raingear.

Yeah it's seem that bit more expensive than other brands out there, but well worth the extra cash in my view.

I did manage to try out the magic hood on the rain jacket, could not rally see the magic in it even after reading the instructions. So don't buy it because of this "automatic", turning hood.

    Best regards
