Forest walk in heavy rain
Forest walk in heavy rain

Hi all

Was out for a walk in the forest this afternoon before the big storm expected for tonight hit. There were still moments with very hard rain, and the wind had already begun to pick up quite a bit.

I was wearing pair of old le chameau thigh waders, a woolen sweater, my trusted yellow HH Nusfjord rain bibs and a yellow Ocean rain jacket button style as it was not really that cold. And with such a jacket it easier to ventilate if one get too hot.

I walked through the forest path that went along a small creek, at the end of the forest path I could see that the small creek continued. So a bit of creek cruising was asked for, when one have to walk in the creek when there is no path on the banks.

At the spot where I jumped into the creek the water were way deeper than expected. I hit the bottom but quickly realised the top of the waders was below water level, as water started seeping in. So quickly managed to get out of the water.

I had brought my trusted black rubber chest waders in my rugsack, a bit stupid of me not to change before starting the walk in the river. But now for sure I changed into the chesties, I wore the HH rain pants outside the waders for added protection if I should get stuck on a branch or something.

I had plenty of fun, a new shower started and passed while I was sploding around in the river. But no mudding this time round, did not really bother walking the distance uphill to a good mud spot.

On the way back tk the car the sun came out and there were moments of rain and sunshine at the same time. Fantastic light for some cool pictures, but not really the weather to bring out the camera! Drove home dressed like that, just took of the jacket. So drove home in thick rubber chest waders and yellow HH rain bibs on the outside.
