Blocking content of specific users

There are some users who post excessive photos, videos etc. Mostly all look same or don't differ much. It would be a nice feature if I could "block" some specific users, so that i don't see their posts in my personal view. Cool

Hi hmiels, The "problem" is down to the thumbnails. Since 3XL did the "last photo only" / "last video only" spammers and nudists don't have great impact on the previews. Thanks for that! The content restrictions are still there. The role of keeping pornographic material off public folders would work fine, but it is not really  enforced any more.

I also think that some members post too many similar photos and videos at once. Just look at the last weeks. I think the number of photos that any member can upload should be restricted to five per week and videos three per week. That is more than sufficient for most of us.

I would like to see also that kind feature..

I made some statistics:

117 out of the last 306 pictures are from the same member (lets call the member PM). That is c. 35 %.

141 out of the last 204 videos are from member PM. That is c. 60% .

From a single member! And this has been going on quite a long time now.

In my opinion that is unreasonably many. I think this is a little bit of misusing the site.

If the pictures and videos were different from each other, maybe it could  pass, but they are very similar. They are not bad, but too many and too similar.

I have lost interest in posting pictures/videos here since I know that after a day or two my stuff is way back in the "archive" and few people bother to search that far back. I think all members who post pictures/videos want them to be seen by as many other members as possible. Now I feel like other members work is drowned in a flood of stuff from PM.

Don't ban anyone but put some restrictions on the posting from now on. My suggestion is 5 pictures a week and 3 videos a week per member.

Nobody here can take more good and varied pictures/videos than that each week.

I agree!

It would be nice to get some input from an admin on this issue.

Hi everybody, thanks for all your comments.

I will look into the issue and come up with a solution.

It's time that someone does something with users who constantly running virtually the same pictures and videos again and again! This is all too bad by those who admin the website!

Thank you for the feedback. We have been observing the situation for a while and agree that the number of uploads from a particular member is very high. HOWEVER, the member is breaking no rule on this site and we generally wish all members to contribute actively to the content of the site and help it remain the most active place on the web for rainwear lovers.

To mitigate the situation, I have contacted the member in order to recommend the use of folders visible to friends only. This had an effect in the beginning and today, I have sent a reminder.

We continually consider if the rules of the site should be adjusted but we do not want to change them in order to cater to one subset of users at the expense of another. In the coming days, we will evaluate if we should pay for the development of some site restrictions on uploads.  If so, the money will be taken out of the general funding for running the site and will come entirely from the members who have chosen to contribute by buying a paid membership.

Let's hope that this is sufficient and that the member stops breaking the etiquette of internet. (nobody has said anything about breaking rules).

If the situation stabilizes I will consider to start posting pictures and videos again, which is my way to contribute to this site.

I have talked to the member again and we agreed that the solution would be to post pictures in a friends-only folder. This should solve the problem and I will keep an eye on the situation to see how it goes. For now, we will not invest in any technical changes but will reconsider it if the problem reoccurs.

The member (PM) that was a problem earlier has improved and you can now enjoy her pictures.  I like them, now that you don't feel drowned and she has chosen the best pictures to publish. Good, member PM!

It looked so fine, but...

Another member has now uploaded c. 190 pictures of rubber boots in a batch. They are different from each other, yes, but 190 at one time (and I don't think they are his pictures but "net findings").

This almost spam-like posting is a recurring problem. We have seen it for many years, but it is getting worse. I understand that is expensive to change the programming of this site, so that it would be automatically impossible to post more than say 5 pictures a week. But something has to be done obviously. It can't be expensive to state a rule though. Just write in an appropriate place that the number of uploaded pictures and videos is restricted per week. In capital letters where you post your pictures/videos for example. The member that violates this rule will be warned once and if he/she continues he/she will be precluded from the site. This means more work for the administrators I guess, but I don't know any better solution.

Maybe I am oversensitive to spam posting, but I think it ruins this site. I like this site and don't want to see it drenched.

What do you other members think of this mega-posting?

Quote22.02.2017 00:490 people like thisLike

The member who has just dumped 190+ photos is clearly spam, and the administrator should realise this and deal with it.

The site becomes much less attractive for the remaining loyal members who subscribe over time.

Also some members rate their own photos daily repeatedly, which is not sympathetic to the other members either.

Quote22.02.2017 12:071 people like thisLike

Administrator has promised to look at the 190+ photos. It is clearly spam! There have been proposals for a limit of five pictures, I think that's too few! I do not know if it's the right way to go, but it may be necessary!

sandy2: I completely agree, with regard to members that rate their own pictures. But it is not always that common sense rule :)
